Progression 1

I realized that I love seeing progression images from other illustrators, but I've never actually posted one myself.

As for the nature of the sketch... man, Trent Reznor did a cover of a song from the soundtrack of "Legend", what was I supposed to do?

Wistful Works in Progress

The funny thing about being an illustrator for a living is that, when things are going truly well, you don't have time for the work your brain insists you be doing at the drop of a good line in a book*, or an idle quest towards the perfect gestalt of errant hair loopdiloops.

*audiobook, more likely. My secret shame is that my eyes are so monopolized that I tend to not have time to read an actual dead-tree-format book anymore. The latter is inspired by a great line early on in The Hunger Games, which I recently picked up to see what all the fuss is about.

..... so now I'm an hour overdue for bed because I've just hit Chapter 11 and everyone's about to die and oh my God send help!

Bordello Lifedrawing 6

Another night of Bordello, this time with the stupefyingly gorgeous Greta Layne modelling.

Bordello Lifedrawing 5

Tonight's lifedrawing session had the model, Michelle, posing with a gigantic hoop, to replicate some of the Playboy photos from the Crazy Horse in Paris.

The gigantic hoop was actually supplied by one of the organizers, who had it just kind of lying around in his bedroom.

Y'know. As you do.

note: Did not draw Michelle L'Amour even half as pretty as she actually is.

Distraction #74

place it on a scale and weigh against the damage done that night..."

He appears to be up to something.

I'm going to assume it's vengeance.

PEWPEW

I'm not the biggest fan of today, and it ain't really looking to be a fan of me either.

Given that, I have several options:

A)write a meebly email or two
B)drink black coffee, put on some Ramona Falls, and sulk
C)draw a dude in a dopey robot suit shooting at things

BOOM. In your FACE, Friday!

District Attorney Jack McCoy (the Cat)

I have never met a cat that gives less of a sh** than Jack.

.. and yet I would swear that whenever I whip the camera out, he starts posing.

Hurly Burly

Working on getting faster at concepting. As in "chug a protein shake and paint for half your lunch break" faster.

Bordello Lifedrawing

Likenesses, some anatomy, diffuse lighting and hands tend to escape me still, but a few rounds of bordello themed lifedrawing will teach to you draw high heels like a boss.

"Just a little construction site study," she says...

"Won't take but a minute." she says.

*facepalm* Jiminy Christmas...

Wait, when was this?

I was digging around through the stockpile of empty or barely started old sketchbooks (a pile that I was comforted to learn lots of other artists have too) and discovered that, at one point, I'd started doing oil sketches from Deviantart stock.

The heck? Might be nice to start that up again, since it wasn't a complete disaster despite oils being a mortal nemesis to me, eclipsed only by the ultimate evil that is... gouache.

Working from some Ron Lemen studies at the top, then trying to apply it with the aid of the almighty Google image search.

Zombie Acid Monkey Death

There was a call for more concept-y art at work, and by jove am I ever inclined to answer that call. He's actually featured in a comic coming up that needed to be concepted anyway, so double trouble!

Castle Neuschwanstein

Only a very, very small portion of course. It would likely take a few years to really paint that glorious Wagnerian nightmare.

Nut and Geb

One of those images that has something simply inexplicably go wrong with it somewhere along the way. As an exercise in working completely digitally and not having the human form turn into silly putty, though, it was certainly satisfying.
