I realized that I love seeing progression images from other illustrators, but I've never actually posted one myself.
As for the nature of the sketch... man, Trent Reznor did a cover of a song from the soundtrack of "Legend", what was I supposed to do?

Wistful Works in Progress
The funny thing about being an illustrator for a living is that, when things are going truly well, you don't have time for the work your brain insists you be doing at the drop of a good line in a book*, or an idle quest towards the perfect gestalt of errant hair loopdiloops.
*audiobook, more likely. My secret shame is that my eyes are so monopolized that I tend to not have time to read an actual dead-tree-format book anymore. The latter is inspired by a great line early on in The Hunger Games, which I recently picked up to see what all the fuss is about.
..... so now I'm an hour overdue for bed because I've just hit Chapter 11 and everyone's about to die and oh my God send help!

Bordello Lifedrawing 5
Tonight's lifedrawing session had the model, Michelle, posing with a gigantic hoop, to replicate some of the Playboy photos from the Crazy Horse in Paris.
The gigantic hoop was actually supplied by one of the organizers, who had it just kind of lying around in his bedroom.
Y'know. As you do.
note: Did not draw Michelle L'Amour even half as pretty as she actually is.

Wait, when was this?
I was digging around through the stockpile of empty or barely started old sketchbooks (a pile that I was comforted to learn lots of other artists have too) and discovered that, at one point, I'd started doing oil sketches from Deviantart stock.
The heck? Might be nice to start that up again, since it wasn't a complete disaster despite oils being a mortal nemesis to me, eclipsed only by the ultimate evil that is... gouache.

Totem - head turnaround
Some prelim work on the main character, before I started on my pages for the Mindwave Comics sampler.

WhoFo Crowd
Sketching from a balcony of a local food court during lunch, as well as from photo ref.
.... fairly obvious which is which, I imagine.

Nut and Geb
One of those images that has something simply inexplicably go wrong with it somewhere along the way. As an exercise in working completely digitally and not having the human form turn into silly putty, though, it was certainly satisfying.
